William Leonard Sturtevant

IMPERIAL — William Leonard Sturtevant, 84, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 2003) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.

He was born June 17, 1919, to Thomas L. and May (Miller) Sturtevant on the family farm north of Wauneta. He attended country school and graduated from Wauneta District No. 31 in 1937. He went to Agriculture College in Lincoln for two years. He then returned to the Wauneta area to farm.

On Jan. 26, 1941, he married Norma Blanche Loveland in Benkelman.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Encampment and the Rural Telephone Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Ruth, Alice and Savilla.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of Wauneta; one daughter, Donna Taylor of Wauneta and companion, Robert Whiting; one sister, Dorothy Booth of Turlock, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services were today at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with Pastor Michael Laing officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

A memorial has been established for the Wauneta Public Library and the Wauneta United Methodist Church.

Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta is in charge of the arrangements.
